The East Tennessee Military Affairs Council (ETMAC) completed a study to assess the impact of military units on the economy of the Knoxville area (Knox, Blount, and Anderson Counties)

The current (2002) annual economic impact of military activities is estimated at $634,500,000

$208 Million - Military retirees

$147.7 Million - Active Duty, Guard, and Reserves

$122.9 Million - Veterans Benefits

$155.9 Million - DOD Contracts
