    East Tennessee Military Affairs Council

ETMAC is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1990 in partnership with the Knoxville Chamber.

ETMAC exists to encourage, support, and build synergy among the military and veteran organizations in our community. We don’t have our own objectives other than to be a conduit of information and support to the East Tennessee veteran and military community. Our monthly meetings focus on our local military units and veteran support organizations, giving each the opportunity to report on their current activities and needs. How ETMAC is involved in the East Tennessee community:

    • Informs community, business, education, and government leaders about East Tennessee military units, their missions, and their contribution to the local economy.
    • Serves as a liaison between military units, military-related organizations, and the public.
    • Helps the community avoid “loss by default” of military offices, detachments, and installations.
    • Helps military personnel and their families understand that East Tennessee values them and supports them as members of the community.
    • Supports area military recruiters.
    • Promotes the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Program.
    • Supports military/veteran related charitable, scientific, and educational programs.

ETMAC sponsors and supports several East Tennessee military & veteran events including:

    • $500 Annual Scholarships to Army and Air Force ROTC at the University of Tennessee, and Army ROTC Units at Carson Newman and East TN State University
    • American Legion Post 2 – Knoxville Veterans Day Parade
    • ETMAC’s Annual Veterans Appreciation and Awards Luncheon
    • East TN Veterans Memorial Association’s (ETVMA) Medal of Honor Evening
    • Executive planning committee member for 2014 & 2022 Medal of Honor Conventions – Knoxville
    • “Free Breakfast Saturdays” for veterans and their families at ten different locations across East TN.
    • HonorAir Knoxville
    • Military Family Appreciation Month Events
    • Military Unit Family Days and Special Events
    • Mountain Man Memorial March
    • Operation Military Kids Events
    • Local Marine’s Toys for Tots Program
    • Veterans Heritage Site Foundation’s Annual Ridge Run
    • Wreaths Across America for three Veteran Cemeteries in Knox County

ETMAC membership is open to any individual, business, or organization. For more information, you can use our contact us link. Alternatively, please call the Knoxville Chamber at 865-637-4550 and ask for the “ETMAC representative.” Here is our membership application. There are nominal dues for individuals and civilian organizations, and no dues for military units.

Monthly meetings are typically held at the offices of the Knoxville Chamber, 17 Market St., Suite 201, downtown Knoxville, on the first Thursday of each month. However, be sure to check our calendar for the exact date and location, since we do try to move meetings when member organizations offer to host a monthly gathering.
