    East Tennessee Military Affairs Council

ETMAC is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1990.

ETMAC exists to encourage, support, and build synergy among the military and veteran organizations in our community.  We don’t have our own objectives other than to be a conduit of information and support to the East Tennessee veteran and military community.  Our monthly meetings focus on our local military units and veteran support organizations, giving each the opportunity to report on their current activities and needs.  How ETMAC is involved in the East Tennessee community:

    • Informs community, business, education, and government leaders about East Tennessee military units, their missions, and their contribution to the local economy
    • Serves as a liaison between military units, military-related organizations and the public
    • Helps the community avoid “loss by default” of military offices, detachments, and installations
    • Helps military personnel and their families understand that East Tennessee values them and supports them as members of the community
    • Supports area military recruiters
    • Promotes the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) program
    • Supports military/veteran related charitable, scientific, and educational programs

ETMAC sponsors and supports many East Tennessee military & veteran organizations and events including:

    • ETMAC hosts an annual Veterans Appreciation and Awards Luncheon close to Veterans Day
    • Awards $500 annual scholarships to a cadet from both Army and Air Force ROTC at the University of Tennessee, and an Army ROTC cadet from both Carson Newman and ETSU
    • American Legion Post 2 – Annual Knoxville Veterans Day Parade
    • East TN Veterans Memorial Association (ETVMA) – Medal of Honor Evening & Memorial Events
    • Supported both the 2014 & 2022 Medal of Honor Conventions in Knoxville
    • “Free Breakfast Saturdays” for veterans and their families at 17 different locations across East TN
    • HonorAir Knoxville
    • Irreverent Warriors “Silkies Hike”
    • Local Marine’s Toys for Tots Program
    • Military Family Appreciation Monthly Events
    • Military Unit Family Days and Special Events
    • Mountain Man Memorial March
    • Operation Military Kids Events
    • Veterans Heritage Site Foundation’s Annual Ridge Run
    • Wreaths Across America at three veteran cemeteries in Knox County
